The spirit of camaraderie and competition thrived at East Noble Middle School during the exhilarating "Tug-Of-War" event last week for three days as part of the Mentor Madness. Students from 6th, 7th, and 8th grades demonstrate teamwork and determination as they vied for the title of the best AL class within their respective grades. Before the event on Friday, representatives from GiGi's Playhouse Fort Wayne were honored with a generous donation of $400, a sum collected by the students and staff in celebration of World Down Syndrome Day, which was on March 21st. This act of kindness, coupled with the unique expression of solidarity through the wearing of crazy socks, exemplified the school's dedication to inclusivity and community engagement.

East Noble High School's Student Appreciation Day was a great day to celebrate the school's vibrant community on Friday. They started the day with thoughtful appreciation notes from their teachers, fun trivia classroom games with prizes involved. Playful rock-paper-scissors contests against classmates for the most necklaces for prizes, and more. The sweet treat of ice cream during lunch added a cool twist to the festivities. The high school would not be possible without the amazing students. They are the ones who make East Noble High School a great place.

On Friday, North Side Elementary's first Culture Day was a great and educational experience! By choosing France, students had the opportunity to immerse themselves in a different culture right from their school. From doing a folk dance Forlane, to crafting stained glass windows reminiscent of Notre Dame, and also provided a hands-on approach to understanding France's rich history and language. It was great for the students to broaden their minds and foster an appreciation for the diverse world we live in. Thank you to President Veronica Johnson and Treasure Nathaniel Paul, Purdue University Fort Wayne French Club, for teaching the students some French words!

World Down Syndrome Day is celebrated every year on March 21st (3/21), the date representing the 3rd copy of the 21st chromosome in individuals with Down Syndrome. As part of East Noble Middle School's celebration, they chose to wear crazy, mismatched socks. Why crazy socks? Chromosomes are said to resemble the shape of socks. Wearing crazy, mismatched socks began as a way to start conversations about diversity, inclusion, and acceptance, and it has been embraced as a fun way to show support for individuals with Down Syndrome! All money from today’s donation day will go to support GiGi’s Playhouse, an organization that provides programming & support for individuals with Down Syndrome and their families.

On Thursday, March 21st, we observe World Down Syndrome Day. The date for WDSD being the 21st day of the 3rd month, was selected to signify the uniqueness of the triplication (trisomy) of the 21st chromosome which causes Down syndrome. A significant date dedicated to raising awareness about Down Syndrome and celebrating the contributions of individuals with Down Syndrome in our communities and classrooms. This day serves as an opportunity to advocate for their rights, inclusion, and well-being. It is a call to action for all of us to work towards a society that values diversity and empowers individuals with Down Syndrome to live fulfilling lives. It's been quite the busy week over at Wayne Center Elementary School. Since last Wednesday, the students have been on a roll, bringing in cereal boxes for their food drive collection. They will then generously donate the collection of boxes to the local food pantry in the community. The competition's heating up among the four Tiger Houses, each vying to outdo the other by March 20th to see who can bring in the most cereal boxes. The book fair is also in the building for the next few days, so students have been having a great time within the walls of Wayne Center.
