Yesterday, East Noble High School FACS classes had a food truck competition. Students were put into groups and were to come up with a creative food truck name, design their own menus, place their menus on their own websites, a mockup of what their truck would look like, and of course, make a delicious dish. They were judge on overall presentation, creativity, and on their food. It was a great way for them to be creative, and a quick insight on some of the things that goes into running a business.

Students in the FACS classes were put to the cooking test today at East Noble Middle School as they competed in a cooking competition. Like a lot of those cooking shows you have seen, students were given 30 minutes to complete a dish in front of a panel of judges that were from the school. They were judge on their ability to prep (washing hands, fruits and veggies), cooking, presentation, and as well as their communication skills to the judges. It was a great practice skill for the students to gain the confidence to speak publicly, work on their time management skills, and teamwork skills.

Please note: The images viewed here may contain dissection of an animal. This was an educational experience for the students. Today, the dissection of Spiny Dogfish Sharks by East Noble Middle School 6th graders was a hands-on educational experience that offers a unique insight into marine biology. Guided by experts from Science Central, students gain a deeper understanding of the anatomy of sharks and their crucial role in the ocean's ecosystem. Such practical learning opportunities are invaluable, fostering curiosity and respect for wildlife while emphasizing the importance of conservation and the interconnectedness of all living things.

This week, we celebrate our amazing school nurses during National Nurses Week! From playground accidents to flu season, school nurses are an important part of keeping students safe and healthy at school. School nurses have many duties. Managing vaccination requirements, supervising the care of students with complex medical needs, screening students and sometimes diagnosing chronic health conditions, and assessing students who are hurt during school hours. All of this work makes it easier for teachers to do their jobs and keep more kids in school. National School Nurse Day, which actually is celebrated in the same week as well on May 8th, is the day set aside to recognize all the work school nurses do each day. We are grateful to have some amazing nurses at Avilla Elementary School, North Side Elementary, Rome City Elementary, South Side Elementary, Wayne Center Elementary School, East Noble Middle School, and East Noble High School!
