This week, The East Noble community lost a treasure of a man, as John Huelsenbeck passed away at age 77.
John was a graduate of Avilla High School in 1964, and spent many years as a Noble County farmer, driving bus for East Noble School Corporation, and enjoying watching his children and grandchildren play sports for East Noble and Churubusco.
John was awarded 2 Purple Hearts in Vietnam, as well as a Bronze Star.
He leaves behind a strong family that he cherished, and a legacy of service to his country and his community.
The thoughts and prayers of the East Noble Athletic department go out to his family.
On many occasions I had the opportunity to sit and talk with John about East Noble Football, and to hear stories about his time in Vietnam.
I am proud to have known John, and it hurts to know that so many of the great men of this generation are beginning to pass away, in many cases with the stories of their service under appreciated.
Please see the video below for powerful interview with John.
